...but this is our story, and if you're interested, you can follow it here.
People have been so great, asking about "what's up" with Kaitlin & Kyle. To the left you'll see a link that says "What's The Latest". I'll update them every few days. Thank you for caring!
Kaitlin: As an overview, in May 2008 , Kaitlin went to the hospital with severe stomach pains. We were super surprised when the emergency room doctor asked the question "does anyone in your family have Crohn's Disease?". We said "no", and hoped that this really wasn't the problem...most of what we knew and heard about Crohn's wasn't good (you can read about it here. ) Fast forward.....Kaitlin does have Crohn's Disease. Its treatable, but considered incurable. Untreated, or poorly handled, Crohn's develops into all sorts of chronic and debilitating problems.
Kyle: In July 2008, we took Kyle to the doctor for a bump on his neck. Another surprise (to us, anyway).....Kyle was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma. Cancer in the lymph system. After weeks of tests, scans, and biopsies, it is determined he has Hodgkin's Lymphoma, Stage IV-A. As you might guess, the stages run from I to IV, with IV being the most advanced "stage". The "A" means non-symptomatic; prior to being diagnosed, he wasn't experiencing pain, weight loss, all of that. Hodgkin's is considered treatable, and in some cases, curable, depending on a variety of factors.
Even though everyone has heard of "Hodgkin's Disease", it's surprisingly rare....only about 8,000 new cases in the U.S. every year.
Through all this, we stand in trusting in an all-good, fully trustworthy God.
Jesus Christ has redeemed us....no matter what, we're going to be okay.
We don't know when....but we do know how this story is going to end.
"My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness."
